About the Templars of Twilight

The Code of the Grey Jedi and the Philosophy of the Templars.

Edited and Compiled by Zytek Celix (Zandoran_Celix)

There is no Light or Dark Side, the Force is One.
To Walk the Grey Line, I must have Balance at my Core
Wisdom is my guide

This is the code that the Templars began with. It acts as a guide to what a Templar should be, how they should act, their very nature.

The Gosei on the Twilight Council is The Master of Knowledge and Wisdom.

In the words of Gosei Dade Leviathan, This code is broke down to be used by the Templars.

I. There is no Light or Dark Side, the Force is One.
II. To Walk the Grey Line, I must have Balance at my Core
III. Wisdom is my guide

I. There is no Light or Dark Side, the Force is One.

The Light Side and Dark Side are lies that the Jedi and Sith convince themselves of. IN truth, the force is not separated into sides. It is neither light nor dark, but the Jedi and Sith believe that it is. There are no evil or good powers, only evil and good intentions, and evil and good uses of the force. But the force is not inherently good nor evil. There are no sides. The Sith are not "corrupted by the dark side of the force." They are corrupted by their unquenched thirst for power. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. The Sith literally distort their own force inside their bodies. THIS is what corrupts them, it is not the force itself. In essence, it is their own evil side that corrupts their force power and themselves, not the force.

II. To Walk the Grey Line, I must have Balance at my Core

In order to truly walk the Grey line you must be balanced. What is the Grey Line, you ask? The grey line is the line between good and evil, light and dark, night and day, black and white, order and chaos. It is the perfect balance between two extremes.

The Grey Line is our life. It is our philosophy that in order to use the force as the force intended itself to be used, we must be at perfectly balance with ourselves and we must promote balance in the universe. Whether that balance is small or large, it cannot be overlooked or disregarded.

We must balance ourselves first, however, before we attempt to balance anything outside of ourselves. To balance ourselves, we must realize that there is emotion as well as passion, and we cannot separate ourselves from it. However, we must not let it control our actions. Secondly, we must realize that there is Ignorance. We are all ignorant of something or another. We must not become like the Jedi and believe that we are always right. We must also realize that we must gain knowledge to lessen the Ignorance. Thirdly, there is chaos. There is also order. however, must balance them to bring Harmony. Both Chaos and Order must exist. And also, there is death, just as there is life. Just as Chaos and Order must both exist, Death and Life must both exist. But the black cannot overpower the white and the white cannot overpower the black. It must be balanced. But remember, that balanced does not mean EVEN. if that were the case, then we'd have to keep killing Jedi and Sith to keep their populations at an exact same number. That is not even somewhat close to true.

III. Wisdom is my guide.

It is truly your guide. When in doubt, trust in your wisdom, or the wisdom of your master. Trust your instincts and your wisdom when you are in a situation, no matter how grand or how trivial the situation seems to you.

Remember that someone may have all the knowledge in the world and still be an idiot. However, someone may have no knowledge, but still be wise. Also remember that wisdom ONLY comes from experience. So get out there and experience.

Order and Chaos, Good and Evil, Light and Dark, Night and Day

The Quest for Balance and Harmony

It is obvious that to exist within this Galaxy means you are immersed in its struggles. Order will exist, as will Chaos. To allow for balance you must have an equal mixture of both, a counteracting influence that balances what one introduces, thus creating and maintaining Harmony.

A useful analogy to look at and remember for these sort of situations is that of the Ocean.

The Ocean is a vast and powerful thing. At its top, light filters in, lighting up the water and the creatures that swim close to its surface. As you go deeper, the depths lose that light until only darkness remains dominant. Within the Ocean are many creatures, some carnivorous, others meek and carefree but for survival. A shark is vicious and shows no mercy to its prey, but are it actions evil? Not inherently so. As you go deeper, more vicious creatures can be found, many that can live in this darkness and defeat a shark with little problem. Also in these depths are creatures just as meek and carefree as those close to the surface. All coexist to balance one another, all are in harmony.

A Templars mission is to help this balance. If it be necessary to take a life in order to balance the Chaos, or the Order, than so be it, but only if necessary. Our existence is to allow for Harmony and death seems to be an agent of chaos that can not be undone once it is used. Making mistakes is part of growing, part of the journey, but one must act on instinct not on impulse. To make a costly mistake, such as the ending of a life that was unnecessary is a contradiction to harmony, a contradiction of the balance we are meant to protect.

The use of the Force is an inevitable part of being a Templar. Our beliefs tell us that only the intent behind the use of an ability paints it dark or light. The darkness, or the light resides within the person.

To be a Templar you must show exceptional usage of the Force, a unique understanding of all its tenets and how it should be used for the protection of harmony, for the keeping of balance. But to enter that step, one must first master the balance, the harmony within themselves.

Whatever walk of life you may come from, inner balance is a hard won prize. It takes dedication many may not have. This is why so few can become a Templar. Many will fail outright, others will fight with it all their lives, dedicate themselves to finding it and never win.

These individuals, those too weak to find this balance, are also a part of the balance. As Templars, it is our duty to deal with them. Whether it be to help them attain the balance, or to remove them for threatening to upset it.

Those who hide behind excuses, such as “They have fallen to the darkside, or they are a darksider by nature” are seemingly too weak to attain true balance and harmony within themselves. How great can they truly be for the order?

This goes equally well for those who will claim the rhetoric of the Jedi. To “preserve the peace and attain justice.” To spout that it is the duty of our Order to protect those who can not protect themselves for the sake of doing the dead out of kindness.

Action is necessary at times, but one must also know that nature, and the Galaxy, will be able to balance itself within certain matters.

An example of this can be something as simple as one man murders the lover of another. His taking of her life was pointless and was a horrible waste. Nature though, will balance this Chaos with Order. The Authorities arrest the man, he is tried, and convicted, then punished.

How is that the work of nature though? It is simple. Sentient beings are a part of the nature, part of the Galaxy. They created a system of laws to ensure Order is not overtaken by the Chaos of animals and the savagery of anarchy.

This is but one point of balance.

A Second Analogy is that of night and day.

The day dawns at sunrise, shedding light on every thing. The light dominates the landscape and all is illuminated. As evening approaches, the light fades. Dusk approaches and then twilight exists just before total darkness. As Darkness dominates the landscape all is black, then twilight again reappears, just before the glorious rising of the sun once more.

This is the Templars place. Between light and darkness.

Even within the Templars leadership balance is essential. The Kage is the leader of the Templars. Two leaders exist. The Kage Umbris and the Kage Luminis. Kage means shadow, Umbris means dark and Luminis means light. Even at the highest of rankings balance is key.
